“As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging.  Jesus approaches us, and from our soul we are begging for light, blinded by the dark.

He heard the crowd and asked what’s happening.  We sense something happening, sense the dark and light. Are we willing to see through Jesus’ eyes?  “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”  I wonder what light was made alive in him as he heard Jesus’ name, for he called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”  Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet.  People tell us to stop, be quiet, when we speak of Jesus – of His truth, His grace, His justice, His faithfulness.  But he didn’t let their rebuke stop him.  He shouted all the more, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”  Do we let God’s Spirit continue to be alive in us?  “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Jesus stopped (He heard and was attentive) and had the man brought to Him. Let us come to Him.  “What do you want Me to do for you?” Though He knows what we need and want to ask, He welcomes the faith evidenced by our request.

“Lord, I want to see.” Do we want to see Jesus and His way, or do we keep ourselves partially blinded by wanting only our way?  “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God.  “It is by grace you are saved through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Let us follow Him.  Let us praise Him, so that when all the people see it, they will also praise God”.
